Mekizodesigns exclusively at Wacky's Flooring at the Atrium...

http://mekizo.wix.com/mekizodesigns

2015 was an exciting year full of surprises, travel and adventure. I believe that the more mature I become my experiences in life have left me wanting to learn more. So 2016 is about growing, learning and becoming true to myself. Most who know me, ask "how do you do it all" ? My reply is that "I do not". One person truly cannot "do it all",  my husband Richard Munden of interior surfaces have supported me in my art and I return the favour. It truly is a partnership in life and in business.  The transition from out west to the East has really been a wonderful one but it is not without its challenges. The children, family, climate change  and the economic downturn has created a negative impact in everyone's lives not just ours. But we do our best to work hard and inspire our children to look forward to the future. This brings us to my line of luxurious, contemporary area rug designs. Mekizodesigns by interior surfaces have made an exclusive partnership with Wacky's Flooring. Please visit us to discuss a variety of options with design, bespoke design or patterns already made are available to suit your needs.

makes a touching speech

A special thanks to the "volunteers" for this event who donated
their Friday night to this event. You were all so caring and generous with your smiles!

Mekizodesigns area rugs are hand knotted in Nepal, Kathmandu. We have known this company for 12 years and work closely with a second generation factory. This particular company has 70 workers that have their individual expertise, weavers, dyers, and labourers that dry and finish the rugs before it is shipped to North America and abroad. They were all safe working at the factory when the earthquake happened. Feeling the quake they all rushed back to their villages. Devastated with the roads all torn up, they found their homes flattened by the quake and worse some families had no one to return to. Some had to find them under the rubble and grieve for their, mothers, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters and often the whole family that they support. So no homes, no water, no food.
How would you like to go to bed one day in your Egyptian cotton sheets and wake up alone or even to dig yourself out of your bedroom and to emerge on the top to find your whole neighbourhood decimated? Well you might not ever have the chance to feel or to experience such a devastation,  so please be grateful, be kind to one another. You are living a privileged life here in Canada, so even just to offer a smile of  kindness to a stranger is generosity enough.

We are so grateful that small little Halifax has a big heart and we cannot thank you enough for making "Nepal Fundraiser" an event to remember. Thank you to the local designers,  www.dwdinteriors.com  and  www.jonathanlegate.com  who attended and donated to the event.

Special thank you to Krista Corcoran for her gorgeous photographs and for finding volunteers that care about the people of Nepal.
I would also like to say that I am so grateful to "the ruggist" Michael Christie, www.theruggist.com making an appearance to support this worthy cause. To Morgan Allaway and Lindsay Downie from Southwest Properties, www.pavilionsouthpark.ca for hosting "Help Build Nepal"
I do not even have words to say to Tamira, Barry McGillivray their son Sam of Centurion Mechanical East Coast Ltd, thank you for your donation and support to the families and children of our weavers. To Bishop Cellar and their staff who smiled and offered their knowledge and expertise with their wine selection, a big thank you!
Acadian Fish and Chips, you were so generous with your Haddock tips, I reach out to you Evelyn and your family and staff I wanna give you guys big hugs!!!
Andrew of www.arnoldinformwork.ca and Trisha from www.yogawithtricia.ca Thank you for coming out and we are so grateful for your support and donation. Thank you again to our friends and families who were there just to give us a hug! Thanks to all the tweets and the shares....

City Collection by Mekizodesigns

2014 was a busy time for Mekizodesigns by  interior surfaces with the shows attended in Las Vegas Market , Surfaces, Chicago Neocon, Furniture show at Highpoint, BDNY show in NY and designs shows in between. It was a busy time of travel and a new show room in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
For 2015 we started with the Las Vegas Market and Surfaces show, followed by interior surfaces tour across Canada with our new City Collection area rugs by Mekizodesigns, which was well received by the trade. We are hoping to tour across North America in the summer with a new luxurious   European furniture and our new "City Collection".

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...I am genuinely flattered.

2010 Mekizo Designs

2014 imitation

The area rug above is mine and the one below is nice but when the same store who bough these designs from us needs to imitate my rug I am completely flattered. First they take a huge account from interior surfaces, an account introduced to them by Richard Munden...I guess we are back to feeding the kids Kraft Dinner not that there is anything wrong with that... Then I get a tweet about this rug from an inside source.  First of all we give them the idea of the artist then they get their own.  Then they want a list of our clients.
Who are these people, why do they want us to fall? Surely they make more money than us??? Thank goodness money is NOT the world for us. These were our friends we thought, we broke bread with them and laughed like we had a relationship.  If our friends are truly going to stab us in the back  THEN who needs enemies in this business!!!
We do only make our living on commissions... We work hard, pay taxes, pay the bills. We live and laugh and we learn from our mistakes.  Who do you trust? Apparently, NO One. I become more of a cynic as I get older, I always was, from experience and trauma but from time to time I believe in Humanity. Then it slaps me in the face and says "wake up, everyone is an A-- hole"  Yes Karma CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH!!! How high can a person go? Somehow I hear a loud THUD in the future.
